Herbal Remedies for Hemorrhoids

Herbal remedies are gaining popularity and credibility as a hemorrhoid treatment . Several natural products are used in the herbal treatment of hemorrhoids: bioflavonoids, witch hazel, butcher’s broom and horse chestnut. Biofalvonoids is a type of plant compound used to strengthen the walls of blood vessels and thus decrease inflammation. They are used as a hemorrhoid treatment in pregnant women since they are completely natural commonly found in citrus fruits. A witch hazel compress or cream can be used directly on the affected area to decrease bleeding, pain and irritation. Butcher’s broom, ingested in the form of a tea, has anti-inflammatory properties and also assists in constricting blood vessels reducing the swelling in hemorrhoids Horse chestnut has similar effects and can also be taken in tea or capsule form. Remedies using bilberry extract have also been known to reduce the symptoms associated with hemorrhoids Herbal medicines are an effective hemorrhoid treatment in that the hemorrhoids can disappear, however these remedies generally only address the symptoms and not the underlying problem. Always seek medical advice if symptoms persist or intensify.
